FLOWING CLOUDS GREEN MOUNTAINS 浮嵐暖翠

Flowing Clouds and Green Mountains (1987) by Peng Ximing (浮嵐暖翠)
.
After relocating to Hong Kong in the 1950s, Peng Ximing wandered through Lantau Island, Lion Rock, and Lobster Bay, gathering intimate observations and quiet realisations from nature into his brush—distilling them into a transcendent, ethereal artistic language. In Flowing Clouds and Green Mountains , the mountains though silent, command a presence; its expanse and depth show itself even in the thick mist. Distant peaks drift in and out of view amid floating haze, as a subtle wash of warm emerald softly seeps through—as if time itself has slowed to a stillness.

Excerpted from this masterpiece, this pattern draws from a vision that transcends literal representation to capture the pure essence of landscape. Carrying forward this poetic spirit, the design deconstructs the mountains, misty vapors, and fluid brushstrokes into rhythmic, overlapping layers across the fabric. Against a luminous gold fan backdrop, warm emerald, ink black, and mineral blue blend and diffuse like morning mist gently parting beneath the first light of day. The balance between presence and void creates room to breathe, harmonizing stillness with movement—preserving the subtle depth of traditional ink painting while infusing it with contemporary design layering.
