WHITE JADE INLAY
This SPARKLE by KAREN CHAN x HKMoA original pattern is inspired by the White Jade Inlaid Floral Motif (白玉鑲嵌圖案花紋) snuff bottle in HKMoA’s priceless “Fuyun Xuan Collection” of snuff bottles. Inspired by the snuff bottle’s white jade that glows like the purest of moonlight, together with its rubies and turquoise intricately set in gilt metal after the Mughal design, this design reflects the delicacy and legacy of cross-cultural craftsmanship.
.
This SPARKLE by KAREN CHAN x HKMoA original pattern multiplies the snuff bottle’s motifs into a kaleidoscopic symmetry; the soft pale gold radiating patterns rotate against a jet-black backdrop, their dreamlike movement an infinite refraction of history’s hidden details—where every turn reveals new facets of artistry and time.

The majority of the embellished snuff bottles with the process of semi-precious stones glued directly on the surface to form a depiction are works of the Tsada Family in Japan. The stones of this bottle are in the style of jewelry setting with every stone mounted in gilt metal after the Mughal design.
