1st Runner-Up - LOOK 4 by LAM WAN SZE
Inspired by 1960s Hong Kong—where neon signs lit up the streets and begonia-patterned glass cabinets held family memories—my design “Memory of Begonia” captures an era of cultural fusion.
“Memory of Begonia” reinterprets the fabric of Hong Kong’s street signs, echoing the vibrant pulse of the ‘60s intertwined with Space Age celestial dreams. Drawing from Pierre Cardin’s geometric silhouettes, this cheongsam is crafted in black denim, adorned with laser-engraved begonia motifs and traditional knot fastenings. Street sign patterns merge with floral designs, evoking stained-glass windows under starlight.
This design pays homage to the East-meets-West spirit of Hong Kong, weaving nostalgia and futurism into a poetic tribute to both the past and what lies ahead.
