Some words, though born a thousand years ago, still echo softly in the human heart. Tang poetry is precisely such a presence—sparing in form, yet vast enough to hold heaven and earth, deep enough to carry emotion, transforming a single moment into eternity.

This season, SPARKLE by KAREN CHAN once again collaborates with master calligrapher Fung Man Yu, taking the Three Hundred Tang Poems as their muse, breathe new life into these timeless verses, recontextualising ancient lyricism into a contemporary design language.

Through Master Fung Man Yu’s powerful brushstroke and spirited ink-play, each poem finds a new visual incarnation: the poised stability of Kaishu (Regular Script) interprets Li Bai’s Quiet Night Thought; the rustic authenticity of Han-dynasty bamboo-slip script captures Meng Haoran’s Spring Dawn; the untamed fluidity of Xingcao (Semi-Cursive Script) gives wing to Wang Zhihuan’s On the Stork Tower; and the effortless grace of Xingshu (Running Script) lends itself to Li Bai’s Qing Ping Diao. Each transforms poetic imagery into a visual lexicon.

These verses, so familiar from textbooks and memory, are no longer relics of the past. They are reawakened, reimagined—through the dialogue of vision and design—into something at once ancient and utterly new.
